Harriet Van Houten has been a volunteer with A Gift For Teaching (AGFT) since August 2008. She has diligently volunteered on Wednesday afternoons for the past three years. As a result of her commitment to volunteerism, Harriet has earned recognition from President Obama. She contributed nearly 120 hours of volunteer time in 2010, which earned her the Bronze Presidential Volunteer Service Award. She has had some health challenges this year, which have limited her volunteer time, but she already has over 85 hours of volunteerism for 2011.
Also as a result of her steady volunteerism, Harriet has earned money for AGFT. Harriet is a Walt Disney World Resort employee and through their “Ears To You” grant program, she contributed $1,000 to A Gift For Teaching in 2011.
